FBO'S

The fixed base operators class refers to the airport-based, commercial operations which provide all or some of the following activities: line services, aircraft and engine maintenance, sale of parts and accessories, aircraft sales, charter and rental aircraft, corporate flight services, and flight training.

The primary coverages that Assurance International recommends to fixed based operators include aircraft hull and liability, airport liability, hangerkeepers liability, and product liability. Two additional coverages that are quite often overlooked by FBO's are in-flight hangerkeepers liability and nonownership physical damage liability.  In-flight hangerkeepers liability extends the basic hangar keeper's coverage to include in-flight uses in connection with storage, repair, service, or safekeeping of aircraft. Nonownership physical damage liability insures the operator's liability when, in the course of his own business, he uses aircraft owned by another.

Fixed  base operators vary widely in size, scope of services offered, type of facility, size of investment, and management expertise. Consequently, individual risks can vary considerably. Therefore it is important that the individual responsible for aviation coverages discuss each aspect of policy coverage with us.
